Book/DVD Review: "Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook" - From RoadBike May 2005
Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook If you’re a “plain old guy who wants to know how and why,” then the Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook by Adam Wade is the book for you. I happen to be one of those guys, and I found it to be a tremendous resource. Having dealt with automotive systems, I had a basic knowledge of electronic fuel injection principles that helped me relate to the topic. Concentrating on OEM systems, Wade explains all the parts and functions and how they interact to produce a quick-starting, smooth-running machine. Wade uses a range of illustrations throughout the book, including many large, crisp color photos and technical drawings provided by various manufacturers. The cutaway views are great for showing where everything is located. I found only a couple of images in black and white or of subpar quality. And don’t be intimidated by the several bar graphs; they’re useful if you take the time to study them. Fourteen chapters talk about the history and future of fuel injection, OEM and aftermarket systems, engine operation theory, and individual EFI components. When you’re done reading this book, you’ll realize that EFI isn’t mysterious black magic at all, but a collection of parts that communicate as a team to extract the maximum performance from motorcycle engines. If you’re looking for a manual that walks you through re-curving your OEM fuel injection for engine modifications, then you’ll have to look elsewhere. But if you want to know how and why fuel injection works in the first place, start here. RB SOURCES Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook $24.95 |
