With high-density, thermofused armor in all the right places (elbows, shoulders, and back), the Icon Bombshell is built for protection as well as fashion. So, aside from the fact that this jacket makes me feel ultra-sexy, it also makes me feel safe. And since I’m not what you’d call an experienced rider, this is important. Comfort matters, too, and the Bombshell delivers there as well. Underneath the premium-grade leather and thick, durable armor there is a quilted-silk zip-out liner for added comfort and style.

Born and raised in Connecticut, I’m at home in the cold — but the Bombshell might not be. It’s perfect for spring, fall, and early winter wear, but beyond that, you may want to add some layers under your jacket. Unfortunately, the Bombshell doesn’t leave a lot of room. It’s definitely not something you would want to wear with sweatshirts or heavy sweaters. Again, the snug fit is meant to enhance its overall sex appeal.

Being the hipster that I am, I opted for the classic black Bombshell, but Icon offers a funky assortment of colors to choose from, including tan (which looks more like a matte gold), Blush (better known as pink), and white. The design, however, isn’t too flashy; even the company logo imprinted across the chest is understated compared to most of Icon’s other styles. In other words, you aren’t a walking advertisement. And considering the quality of the product with its reinforced, cross-stitched seams, and sturdy buckles that allow you to further customize the fit, the Bombshell is reasonably priced. As they say, you get what you pay for. And when it comes to riding apparel, better to be safe than cheap.
