We just had a break from temps in the teens and I took my bike to the shop to have a recurring problem checked out. Again. It was almost 60 degrees! Nice little ride!

You guys are nuts! LOL! I don't go out unless it's 60+ degrees! Say what you will, I still get a good solid 15,000 miles in every year. Not a HUGE amount, but respectable by most standards.

Ha! Fortunately, we enjoy days in the 60's starting in April and right on into October. That's a good 7 months or so.
I'm a gigging guitar player of 32 years and my hands just can't take the cold like they used to! I love riding bikes, but also love playing in clubs on the weekends. Gotta take care of my mitts!

My V Star is still on the trickle charger here in Cadillac. We got eight more inches of snow and school was closed yesterday because of bad roads. I have to be satisfied with shows and dealer visits. Online stuff helps too. I didn't think the Cadillac show was too good, last year was better. Our local Star dealer doesn't even show up, in fact he told me that he wasn't aware that the show was on.

Snow has melted, no more ice on the bay and the snow birds have returned.
This weekend temps in the high 60's and low 70's.
We've made it thru another winter.

One of the advantages of living and working in a small town is the commute to work is short and gas prices have a smaller impact on my budget. The prices here $3.00 +.
Parade of Thanks for UP Vets May19 in Houghton and Hancock, MI. Bikers encouraged to attend.

Ever ride across the Mackinac bridge on the grating? Trows you all over like riding on ice with the wind blowing you around,Never fails you get to ride on it when they are working on the bridge. But once pass that us 2 is a good road then go north to 28 around lake Superior all the way up to the Copper County
Some really good riding in the copper country use to deliver mail up there in my 20s. 1975 to 1980 , post office still on the hill in hougnton? Very good area for riding bikes nice hills and quite roods (GODS COUNTRY)

I have crossed the Mackinac Bridge many times. Only once when there was a strong wind, that was a very interesting ride. Moving into the truck lane and reducing my speed helped. I plan to ride to Houghton on May 19 for the Parade of Thanks.

What is your favorite Michigan ride ? Roads, places, restaurants, etc.
I rode last weekend to Houghton for Armed Forces Day parade. Houghton is located on the Keweenaw Peninsula in the UP. The ride up the peninsula to Copper Harbor is worth the trip. Lake views, senic forest roads and the wilderness area of Isle Royale.

Check this site http://www.lakesuperiorphoto.com/index.html for some professional pics of the UP. Most of my riding is done in Wisconsin since I live on the border of MI. and WI.
Menominee Cty Road 577 from Vulcan to Menominee is a good alternate route to US 41

I thought all the roads in Lower Michigan are flat and straight and with too much traffic. :D
What is your favorite road to ride?
I have ridden the Lake Michigan shore from "the Bridge" to Ludington and Lake Huron shore from "the Bridge" to Bay City.

Honda Hoot
Leave next week to attend the Honda Hoot in Knoxville, TN. This area has some of the great motorcyling roads in the country. The Road Bike article (August 2007) gives you a hint of the fun to be had on the Tail of the Dragon. See you there. I'll be the old geezer with a smile on my face.

I had to cancel my trip to the Hoot at the last minute because of work. I love my job. The other riders reported back they had a great time and they are looking forward to a return trip. For one couple this was thier first long ride (2,000 mi ) and are already thinking about a trip to the Honda Homecoming in Marysville, Ohio. They have been bit by the travel bug.
I met up with the group about 25 mi south of Milwaukee and returned home to the UP with them.
So there are still roads in the Great Smoky Mts. that I plan to ride. I just need a plan.........

If you can make the Honda Homecoming I would highly reccomend it. You can take a tour of all Honda plants in the area. They have 2 night parades of bikes as well as many vendors. For schedule or more info go to
