Tool Tips: Craftsman Motorcycle Tool Set

By Steve Lita

This 34-piece Motorcycle Tool Set from Craftsman comes with some essential tools for roadside repair. It contains just the basics and would make a nice addition to, or replacement of, the usually limited factory tool kit. Since our project SR500 was lacking in that department, this kit fit the bill.

Some items in the kit are specific, like the metric open-end wrenches, spark plug sockets, and gapping tool. Others are more universal, like the 8" adjustable wrench, vise grip, and multi-bit screwdriver. Zip-ties and electrical tape are included, along with another do-it-all product, WD-40. There’s even a shop rag for cleanup. One curious feature is that the folding hex key set is measured in fractions and probably wouldn’t be very useful on metric fasteners. An easy fix is to substitute a metric hex key set, available separately.

All items come wrapped in a tool roll, which has a few extra pockets for additional items. For those of you with a variety of bikes in your fleet, the tool kit comes in an American-sized version, too. RB
