Default Bmw r 1200 rt

who can tell me something about this model ? have ridden one.But owning one is more telling.I now ride a 2000 Valkyrie interstate,Nice but seems to get heaver as I get older.Had an GL1800 ,just to hot down here.Expensive too.Does the vent in the wind shield help much on the newer 1800's?

I have no idea how this thred started it's self. It has been on here awhile.let it roll i guess.

Default R1200rt

I know this is an old thread but you asked and I'm telling. I just traded my Valk Tourer for a used 1200RT ( can't believe I did). This was my 2nd Valk and I thought I'd have it till death. I also had an 1800 wing, that didn't last long. Back to the Beemer, this is my 3rd BMW and 2nd RT. Ist RT was 1150 and it was nice, had it quirks and just didn't work out as a 2up bike. Wife rides her own now, so 2up not an issue. Newer RT is not really like older one. Motor and trans very nice, electric windsheild, cruise control, heated seats and grips and you can get much more. Very different ride than a Valk. Certainly not as heavy, easy to ride fast on twisty roads, but not as good as Valk was for 2up. Very nimble, good storage capacity, in fact we's packing to go to Americade. I let you know how it was after 3500mi or so.

I rode one when brand new and was impressed with it. So was the Montana State Trooper who spun around on a deserted high country road to try and catch me!

Checking eBay and the CycleTrader, most of the mid 1970s BMW 750 bikes are going for around $2500-4000. These bikes are running, so of course you would need to adjust for repairs.
