Default Windshields

As my motorcycle sojourns get longer every year, I find myself sometimes wishing for a little wind protection.
Victory offers a detachable windshield, but the mounting brackets are a little less than sexy when the shield is removed. Since the shield will be off 90% of the time, this is not acceptable.

I've been checking out other systems and like the looks of the Memphis Shades products.

Does anyone have knowledge or experience with this brand? How obtrusive are the mounting brakets when the shield is oof the bike?

Any info is welcome, and pics would be exceptionally helpful

Thanks

Had a Memphis Fat on the V-Star and loved it. The mounting hardware on this shield was pretty unobtrusive. Basically two metal bands around each fork tube to support a male receiver each for the corrosponding "hook" hardware that is attached to the shield itself. I dug up an old picture that shows the hardware I am speaking of behind the windshield. Sorry but the pic is not the highest quality.

I am betting however that as you get used to riding behind a shield that it comes off less and less. Set the height where you want it (in my case fairly low, I like to be able to see over it) and soon you will wonder what took you so long to mount one.

Either way hope this helps

Not sure if this helps... but the HD quick detach for the wife's Sporty has the same type of 2 bands around the forks. Doesn't leave much behind...

I had one on my road Star.the red tint was super nice looking with the cherry red paint. On and off real easy.but the only time I took mine off was to wash the bike.

but those old style police type wind shields. They look good on a cruiser. But they are drafty. Those clear ones like from National cycle sure work a lot better.

Thanks for the info guys, and the pics help alot.

I'm liking the smaller sport style shields with quick detach capability. May check out a handlebar mounted version. It's a little cheaper way to try a shield for height and see if I like it.
