In RoadBike‘s Jan/Feb 2012 issue we showed our completed project Honda Gold Wing. One of the accessories we installed was Honda’s Fairing Pouch for the Wing. Here we’ll show you step-by-step how to complete this easy upgrade.

1. The Honda fairing pouch sports the Gold Wing logo on the front.
2. The back of the pouch has a clip. You need to install the base on the stock left fairing pocket.
3. Position the base on the stock pocket lid and mark the hole locations with a pencil. Check that you like this position by holding the fairing pouch to these marks before drilling.
4. Put a piece of tape on a 5/32" drill bit at about 10mm. This acts as a depth gauge, so you don’t drill too far.
5. Drill the four holes on the marks that you made earlier.

7. Secure the base with the provided screws, washers, and locknuts. Use a 7mm wrench on the inside…
8. … and a Phillips head screwdriver on the outside.
9. Without the fairing pouch connected, this is what it looks like.
10. Install the fairing pouch by lining up the bracket with the base and pushing until it snaps in place.
11. This is the profile view.
12. To remove the pouch, pull up on the tab…
13. … and it will snap off of the base.
14. The pouch opens up to reveal a good amount of extra space for things like sunglasses, maps, etc. The netting on the sides prevents things from falling out when you open it.
15. You can still open the fairing pocket with the pouch installed.
16. The final look with Honda’s storage pouch installed.
