The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum opened their newest exhibit, “Welcome Invasion: British Motorcycles in America, 1940-1980” yesterday! Running until October 17, 2013, the exhibit presents the British motorcycle in two ways: as an aesthetic object and as a part of material culture. “Welcome Invasion” investigates the English motorcycle’s technical innovations, its popularity in America, and its eventual implosion in the 1970’s through movie and music posters, quotes made by motorcycle commentators, “The Literature” table, and period dealer signs, in addition to others. Among its many displays, plan on seeing the 1956 Ariel Square Four, 1948 Triumph Speed Twin with sidecar, a 1970 Cheyney-BSA off-road racer built by hand, and more!
