Sexy Electric Debuts

Freed from the design constraints of the internal combustion engine, electric motorcycles are getting pretty wild. Case in point: the Agility Global Saietta, a stylish electric bike that promises a range of 50 – 100 miles on a single charge. With the bike’s sweeping curves and sexy lines, there’s a certain sense of performance implied — and if the company’s claims prove true, riders shouldn’t be disappointed.

The Saietta S, which offers a range of 50 miles, can go from zero to 60mph in less than four seconds. The R model carries heavier batteries, has a riding range of 100 miles, and takes five seconds to make it to 60. London-based Agility Global wasn’t offering horsepower numbers, but claims the bikes have a power-to-weight ratio of 675hp per ton. By comparison, the Bugatti Veyron has a power-to-weight ratio of 446hp per ton. You do the math.

The huge bubble under the rider’s chin houses the bike’s battery & charging system. Notice the offset steering linkage and single damper front suspension.

The Saietta S will cost around $16,200, and the Saietta R will run about $22,650. Shipping will begin in April.
