Weise Nevada Motorcycle Jacket Review

You may not have heard the name before, but Weise riding apparel is worth a look. From across the pond, Wiese is establishing a network of dealers to carry its products in the United States. Lucky for me, my local bike parts dealer was one of the first to get in on the ground floor.

The Nevada is an all-arounder and won’t bust your budget. It keeps me warm on chilly days, thanks to its 120-gram ISOTEX waterproof, breathable, thermal, quilted drop liner. But with a quick zip-out of the liner, the Nevada allows me to be cool when I open the vents on the chest, back, and arms to let the breeze in. Impact protection is handled by a tough, nylon outer shell featuring special coatings to increase abrasion resistance and combat the effects of weathering. CE-approved armor resides in the shoulders, elbows, and back. There’s a small amount of 3M Scotchlite reflective material in the upper chest, a thin stripe across the back, and at the cuffs for added visibility. I especially like the comfortable neoprene finish at the collar.

The full-length sleeve vent can be opened from the top or bottom to reveal a mesh panel.

The Nevada has seven pockets in total. On the front, two waterproof external ones hide behind vertical zippers, and that’s my favorite place to carry my phone and wallet — close at hand. The two square lower pockets don’t utilize waterproof zippers, but there is a snapped flap over both. Two small hand pockets have no closures, and the one internal pocket is accessible through a slot sewn into the jacket’s liner. To snug the fit, there are Velcro adjustable twin belts at the waist, base of the jacket, and collar. Also, Velcro straps are at the cuffs, and snapped straps can cinch up any arm bulk.
